From industrial past to thriving new community
A recent visit to site gave our team the opportunity to see their work built and experience the transformation first-hand. What was once a declining industrial landscape is now emerging as a new neighbourhood, where people are part of a new community. Nearly 1,000 homes are now complete, with around 2,000 people making Brent Cross Town their home.
This milestone has been delivered through a period of economic uncertainty and wider industry challenges, reflecting the strength of collaboration across the wider team — including our clients Related Argent, JRL Midgard and Galliford Try – as well as concept architects Maccreanor Lavington, Squire & Partners and Allies and Morrison.
Over six years, 66 colleagues from across our practice have contributed to the project, dedicating more than 98,000 hours to help realise over 1 million sq.ft of residential development. Our work spans five completed buildings which provides homes for rent, private sale and affordable living which are seamlessly integrated throughout, helping to create a genuinely mixed-tenure community.
The wider vision for Brent Cross Town is significant. The 180-acre masterplan will deliver 6,700 homes, 50 acres of parks and playing fields, and a new town centre, creating a connected and inclusive piece of city. Seeing the first phase take shape is an important moment, not just in the physical transformation of the site, but in the collective effort behind it.
“We originally engaged Whittam Cox in 2019 to unify a complex series of basements, before they took on the Executive Architect role across the five buildings above. The last six years have been challenging for the industry, but this stands as a remarkable achievement. We’re grateful for the partnership, collaboration and commitment shown by Whittam Cox and the wider team.”
Construction Director, Related Argent
We’re proud to have played a role in shaping the early stages of Brent Cross Town, contributing to a neighbourhood that will continue to grow and evolve as a new part of London.
“This has been a long-term programme requiring consistent coordination across multiple stakeholders, disciplines and delivery partners. Throughout changing market conditions, the team maintained a clear focus on quality, progress and delivery. The completion of the first five buildings is a significant milestone and reflects a highly professional and collaborative approach from Whittam Cox and the wider project team.”
