We are thrilled to announce that our proposals for a new retail park at Wynyard in Stockton-on-Tees for Northumberland Estates has received planning approval by Stockton Council.
The plans will see the development of a 19-acre site adjacent to Wynyard Business Park in the Tees Valley, to provide a 48,000 sq. ft superstore for Sainsbury’s, 2 Drive Thru’s, and a 7 unit building for prospective trade and light industrial users. A battery compound is also proposed which will store energy generated at non-peak times to send back to the national grid for use at peak hours.
Daniel Cocker, Director, commented, “We are absolutely delighted to continue our relationship with Northumberland Estates. The project builds upon our track record of success, including the delivery of a similar schemes like the Tyneview retail park project in Prudhoe. Our dedication to providing considered, sustainable developments underscores our commitment to shaping the future of retail spaces”.
Peter Dalby, Development Manager at Northumberland Estates, added ‘”We’re delighted to have successfully reached this major milestone as we attain unanimous approval for our Wynyard retail and trade park project. Collaborating with Whittam Cox Architects has been instrumental; their expertise has helped bring our vision to life. The hub will greatly enhance the food retail provision for nearby residential developments and also provide a new trade counter with excellent links to existing major road infrastructure.”
Located within a 5-minute drive from Wynyard Park, that is set to introduce over 2,500 new homes, the upcoming retail facilities, coupled with nearby town centres, will cater to the rapidly expanding local population. Construction is expected to commence on-site in the coming months.
