A once in a generation opportunity
Brent Cross Town is one of the UK’s most ambitious regeneration projects: a new urban neighbourhood for North London that will deliver thousands of homes, jobs, schools, parks and public spaces. Led by Related Argent in partnership with Barnet Council, the 180-acre masterplan reimagines a fragmented area of retail sheds, infrastructure and industrial land as a connected, people-focused place to live, work and move through.
Whittam Cox joined the project to support Related Argent in turning this long-term vision into a deliverable reality. Drawing on our experience delivering large, multi-phased residential-led developments, we were appointed as Executive Architects across multiple plots, working alongside leading concept architects including Allies and Morrison, Maccreanor Lavington and Squire & Partners.
The scale, density and complexity of the project demanded careful coordination, not just between buildings, but across basements, infrastructure, fire strategy, sustainability targets and construction programmes all while maintaining quality, identity and resident experience.

Turning vision into buildable solutions
We played a central role in coordinating and rationalising the technical design across plots, helping establish a robust and efficient delivery strategy.
One of our first interventions was to redesign multiple individual plot basements into a single, unified solution, providing shared parking and servicing while reducing complexity and cost.
Rather than relying on extensive transfer structures, we coordinated superstructures continuously from roof to basement. This decision required close collaboration across the consultant team but delivered a clearer, more buildable outcome with long-term benefits.
As Executive Architects and Lead Consultant from Stage 2 to Stage 3 on key plots, we worked closely with concept architects to overlap design development with technical coordination, ensuring that architectural intent translated clearly into construction. Across plots 12, 13, 202 and 203, we supported a mix of affordable homes, private sale and build-to-rent apartments, aligning diverse requirements within a consistent delivery framework.
Sustainability, safety and future performance were integral to every decision. We supported Argent’s ambition for a net zero carbon development, embraced modern methods of construction to increase pre-manufactured value, and adapted designs in response to evolving fire safety regulations — ensuring the neighbourhood is resilient, compliant and future-ready.
Building a neighbourhood that lasts
Brent Cross Town is setting a new benchmark for large-scale urban regeneration in London. Through technical leadership, collaboration and a focus on buildability and quality, we are helping deliver homes and places that people can trust, enjoy and feel proud of.
Our work supports Argent Related’s long-term vision: a connected, inclusive and sustainable neighbourhood that prioritises people, embraces change and stands the test of time.
On a project as large and complex as Brent Cross Town, our role was about making ambitious ideas work in the real world. We focused on coordination, buildability and long-term performance, working closely with Argent and the wider design team to translate strong architectural concepts into homes and neighbourhoods that can be delivered efficiently, safely and at scale.
