Whittam Cox Architects and developers ESRG Group have secured planning permission to construct a new apartment scheme on a former factory site in Digbeth, Birmingham.

The site, which is partly occupied by the former Park Works, lies in the centre of Digbeth’s new development hot spot and borders the Harrison Drape site redevelopment.

Approved for demolition and redevelopment, the Park Works scheme will comprise 140 units over six storeys in an area identified for regeneration. When complete the development will also feature roof gardens as residential amenity space.

Mark Williams, Regional Director at Whittam Cox Architects commented, "The design seeks to reinvigorate this area of Bradford Street with strong street frontages as a fitting insertion in the wider historical context. This, alongside the further 367 units we received approval for earlier this year at Alcester Street and on the corner of Bradford Street reflect the city’s aspirations.

The team have worked tirelessly to ensure our design proposals seek to create a place that revives this area of Digbeth and we are thrilled with the decision of the committee.”
